The Arts Across Nebraska connects Lied artists to Nebraska communities throughout the state. The program provides up to three tours every year, which are offered to presenting partners and communities in the state at an affordable rate. The Lied Center is responsible for contracting with the artist(s), routing and providing technical assistance on tour. The artist(s) usually provide a public performance, and/or student matinee or workshop in each community.
RHYS THOMAS: SCIENCE CIRCUS
Rhys Thomas teaches Newtonian physics using a rare blend of science, comedy and circus arts. Students learn surprising things about gravity through bowling ball juggling, gyroscopic stability through glass bowl spinning, centripetal force with cowboy lariats, center of balance with a six-foot tall unicycle and inertia with the old tablecloth pull. The Science Circus has toured hundreds of schools in a dozen U.S. states.
