The Arts Across Nebraska connects Lied artists to Nebraska communities throughout the state. The program provides up to three tours every year, which are offered to presenting partners and communities in the state at an affordable rate. The Lied Center is responsible for contracting with the artist(s), routing and providing technical assistance on tour. The artist(s) usually provide a public performance, and/or student matinee or workshop in each community.

Arts Across Nebraska Tours 2017-2018

The Lied Center will welcome country music performer and historian, Jason Petty to Nebraska to present his very own country music revue “Hank and My Honky Tonk Heroes.” Petty was cast in an award-winning production of The Lost Highway in Nashville and New York City, where he played the country music great, Hank Williams. More than just a role, Petty used the opportunity to conduct in-depth research on Williams, and eventually became one of the nation’s experts on the hugely influential American musician.

Performing for audiences all over the world, the Harlem Gospel Choir has earned the title of the country’s premier gospel choir. It will be the first ensemble to perform for a Nebraska audience that has also performed for three heads of state (President George W. Bush, President Barack Obama, and President Nelson Mandela). The Harlem Gospel Choir will connect with students in the communities they visit by offering workshops to students about gospel music. As when they performed on the main stage at the Lied Center in 2011, the choir will welcome students on stage to perform songs from their repertoire with the Harlem Gospel Choir for members of their own community.
