Mission Statement

The Lied Center Student Council expands student engagement in the performing arts on campus, and cultivates arts supporters of the future.

About Us

The Lied Center Student Council is open to all students at the University of Nebraska and is a great way to get involved in your campus performing arts center. This volunteer position allows you to provide input into programming, design Lied Center events, and raise awareness of unique arts events on campus.

By giving your time to the Council, you’re giving your voice and perspective to arts offering on campus. We work to establish a platform for student perspectives, develop leadership potential, and serve the community through creative means.

The primary functions of the Council fall are carried out by three subcommittees: Executive Committee, Marketing & Public Relations Committee, and Events & Programming Committee.

Full descriptions of each subcommittee can be downloaded here.

The council is comprised of undergraduate and graduate students, from each UNL College, as well as representatives from other campus groups. Benefits of being a part of the council include:

  • Tickets to Lied Center performances
    • Connect with other students
    • Cultivate campus creativity
    • Help guide artistic programming at the Lied
    • Learn about careers in the arts
    • Attend performances
    • Interact with artists
    • Become a leader among your peers
    • Create awesome events for you and your friends at one of the best performing arts centers in the country

The full council meetings are held twice a month on Monday evenings from 5:30-7:00 pm; see below for a detailed schedule. All events are hosted in the Lied Commons, located on 12th & R streets.
