GUMBO takes a fantastical approach to the retelling of Hurricane Katrina, intersected with the overarching theme of rebuilding.

There will be a 50 minutes staged reading directed by Beth Thompson with musical direction by Liz Stinman, followed by a response from our Broadway and industry expert panel:

  • Stephen Bray, composer and lyricist of Broadway musical The Color Purple and known for his many collaborations with Madonna
  • Kevin Bannerman, industry expert and co-creator of Ice Age
  • Karen Morrow, singer, actress and Broadway legend
