OmniArts is proud to be celebrating the six-year anniversary of its signature production, the lonely book. It was the first collaboration of company co-founders, Daniel Kubert and Dustin Witte in January of 2011.
the lonely book is an original dance theater piece, based on the 1933 book A Philosophy of Solitude, by John Cowper Powys, and tracks the universal journey down the path that leads toward inner-piece and solitude.
With dance and movement created by Daniel Kubert and the ensemble of two actors, and two dancers, and three short plays written by Virginia Smith, the lonely book looks at the timely and universal question of how, in the midst of an increasingly noisy, hectic world, does one find comfort, peace and ultimately solitude within themselves, while living among the culture of “the herd mentality?”
This dynamic “Meditation in three phases” proves to be as poignant now, amidst a seemingly chaotic world, as it was when first produced.
The cast includes Daniel Kubert, Amanda Broulik, Elizabeth Govaerts, and Dustin Witte. Anthony Delaney will stage manage.
