Nebraska’s Home for the Arts, the Lied Center for Performing Arts has added folk singer/songwriter Ani DiFranco to its list of marquee artists performing during the 25th anniversary season. DiFranco is scheduled for a single performance on Oct. 20 at 7:30 PM on the Lied Center Main Stage. Tickets start at $28 and are available at half price to UNL students.

After 20 years in the music business, self-described "Little Folksinger" and GRAMMY®-winner Ani DiFranco is still technically little, although her influence on fellow musicians and activists the world over has been huge. Over the course of more than 20 albums, Ani has never stopped evolving, experimenting and testing the limits of what can be said and sung melding soul, funk, jazz, electronica and spoken word. Her collaborations with cultural and music icons like Pete Seeger, Prince, Bruce Springsteen and Cyndi Lauper have forever left their mark on folk and alternative rock music, politics and society.

“Some of the greatest folk musicians of all time have played on the Lied Center stage over the years including Joan Baez, Béla Fleck and Peter, Paul and Mary,” said Bill Stephan, Executive Director of the Lied Center. “We are delighted to add Ani DiFranco, one of the foremost folk artists today to our 25th anniversary season schedule. She delivers music that is honest, provocative, experimental and often fiercely political in a unique style that has captured the imaginations of legions of followers over the past two decades.”

Tickets to Ani DiFranco’s performance on Oct. 20 are available now as part of a season ticket package. On Aug. 19, single tickets will go on sale to all 2014-2015 season performances.
