Dr. Seuss’ “The Cat in the Hat” is the perfect friend for a boring, rainy afternoon. It’s fun from the moment his tall, red-and-white-striped hat appears at Sally’s door! The Lied Center for Performing Arts will present three performances of the live stage adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ “The Cat in the Hat,” performed by Childsplay, the nationally-recognized professional theatre for young audiences, on Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. and Feb. 13 at 11 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Tickets are on sale now at LiedCenter.org, by phone at 402.472.4747 or at the Box Office on 12th and Q Streets. Tickets are available to students at a 50 percent discount with a valid NCard.

Arguably the most famous children’s book of all time, Childsplay is one of only a handful of theater companies in the United States to perform the adaptation, making this high-energy and hilarious show a “must-see” for Nebraska families.

From the moment he arrives at their doorstep, Sally and her brother know that the Cat in the Hat is the most mischievous cat they will ever meet. Suddenly a rainy afternoon is transformed by the Cat and his antics. Can the kids clean up before mom comes home? With some tricks (and a fish) and Thing Two and Thing One, with the Cat in The Hat, the fun is never done!

“You can boil everything down to fun, simple and clear. The Cat wants to have fun. And so do we!” says “Cat in the Hat” Director David Barker. “The show feels just as youthful and exhilarating as reading a Dr. Seuss book.”

This performance is most enjoyed by young people age three and older.
