LINCOLN, NEB. – The Lied Center for Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln presents the most celebrated dance company in Mexico on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the Lied Center Ticket Office located at 12th and Q Street in downtown Lincoln, by phone at 402.472-4747 or online at www.liedcenter.org.

In 1952, Amalia Hernández, dancer and choreographer, founded the Ballet Folklórico of México, having embarked, at a very early age, on a never-ending quest to rescue the dancing traditions of Mexico. International success was achieved during the first tour and has been maintained through fifty years of incessant artistic endeavours. Starting from the sixties, Amalia Hernández and the Ballet Folklórico of México developed choreographies for 40 ballets, composed of 76 folk dancers. The music, technical perfection, sophisticated wardrobe and original choreographies, create this singular character of the Ballet.

The company has completed more than 100 international tours, including visits to the United States 52 times. All ages will be transported by the music, motion, color and culture of this troupe. Children are enchanted by the spectacle; through its history Ballet Folklórico of México has entertained over 1,450,000 youth.
