Nebraska’s Home for the Arts, the Lied Center for Performing Arts welcomes America’s favorite foursome, Lucy, Ricky, Fred and Ethel, to the Lied Center Main Stage March 7-9 with show times at 2:00PM and 7:30PM. I Love Lucy® Live on Stage is the brand-new hit stage show adapted from the most beloved program in television history. The Lied Center performance will mark the cast’s premiere appearance in Nebraska during the show’s first national tour.

“If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be in a live studio audience in the 1950s, now’s your chance,” said Bill Stephan, Executive Director of the Lied Center. “Audience members will be transported back in time to see two of their favorite Lucy episodes unfold live on stage and in color for the very first time!”

It’s 1952 and you are a member of the studio audience awaiting the filming of two hilarious and oh-so-familiar I Love Lucy® episodes. Imagine stepping back in time onto the Desilu Playhouse soundstage where a charming host entertains and enlightens you to the behind-the-scenes filming process, the 1950s hi-fidelity technology and this brand-new thing called “television.” The episodes begin and you witness, firsthand, the side-splitting antics of that crazy redhead in the Ricardo’s New York apartment and thrill to the Cuban sounds of “The Ricky Ricardo Orchestra” at the famed Tropicana Nightclub. In-between scenes? The Crystaltone Singers perform live advertising jingles of the show’s newest sponsors in perfect 50s style harmony. Can you say “Brylcreem?!”

L.A. Examiner’s Ron Irwin says I Love Lucy® Live on Stage is “an absolutely brilliant and utterly engaging tribute to that iconic television show!” TV Guide’s William Keck calls it “the most entertaining stage production I’ve seen in years – including Broadway!”

The truth is in the title – whether young or old, everybody really does Love Lucy!

This presentation is made possible in part with generous support from Allstate and the Burket Graf Endowment.

In an effort to connect students to visiting world-class artists, the Lied Center provides many opportunities to University of Nebraska-Lincoln students for one-on-one access to the experts in their fields of study. Residency activities are funded, in part, by the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts and the Hixson-Lied endowment.
