With its signature illusionistic style, MOMIX brings to life the desert world of soaring cactuses, slithering lizards, snakes and frolicking insects in Opus Cactus at 7:30 p.m. April 4 at The Lied Center for Performing Arts.

The company of dance-illusionists, under the direction of founder Moses Pendleton, presents a dynamic journey into the hidden landscape of the American Southwest with a sense of danger, sensuality and humor. Exceptional inventiveness, physical beauty and creative props combine to make this magical performance perfect for the entire family.

The Los Angeles Times  had this to say about the Washington, Connecticut-based company: “Extraordinarily sophisticated in its creative resources yet disarmingly childlike in its artistic sensibility, ‘Opus Cactus’ sometimes seems to represent a transition away from movement-based expression toward a poetic, European-style theater of images: something between Mummenschanz and the Blacklight Theatre of Prague.”

MOMIX has worked in film and television, recently appearing in a national commercial for Hanes underwear and a Target ad that previewed during the airing of the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards. The company was also on PBS’s “Dance in America” series.
