Suna Avci Gunther

Suna Avci Gunther is delighted to join the faculty of Triple Threat this summer. In her fifth year as Assistant Professor of Voice in the Glenn Korff School of Music, she is a frequent collaborator with the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film as a music director, coach, and course instructor for Musical Theatre-related classes. Recent performances include pop and musical theatre showcases and the operatic roles of Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Musetta (La Boheme), Flora (La Traviata), Dorabella (Cosi fan tutte), and new micro-operas depicting the lives of real American women she has commissioned, developed, and toured with the SALT Quintet. Offstage, she is an active music and stage director and the Director and co-founder of Soo Opera’s annual Opera Apprenticeship program in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Her piano-vocal Anthology of Turkish Songs is under contract with Hildegard Publishing with a targeted release of March 2026. Dr. Gunther has performed and taught around the world in Chile, Peru, Micronesia, Palau, the Marshall Islands, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Singapore, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Italy, and Turkey, primarily as a “cultural ambassador” of the U.S. State Department. She previously taught at Indiana University, Berea College, University of North Dakota, and the College of Saint Rose. Dr. Gunther holds degrees from Northwestern University and Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in Vocal Performance and Instrumental Music Education (saxophone).
