Description of Work: 

Directs the Lied Center’s communications and promotion strategy across digital content, media relations, public relations, and audience development to increase visibility, deepen community engagement, and achieve ticket sales objectives. Creates compelling, mission-driven content to maximize sales and engagement across digital, email, social media, and press channels. Develops and executes monthly and quarterly strategies for integrated communications and public relations campaigns to promote season performances, arts education initiatives, rental activities, and institutional priorities.

Builds and maintains strong relationships with media, campus partners, community organizations, and key stakeholders, including Friends of Lied, to expand reach and support advocacy efforts. Identifies and implements strategies to attract and grow new and diverse audiences across art forms.

Collaborates closely with the Deputy Director and Lied Center leadership to align communications strategies with revenue goals, maximize ticket sales, and strengthen patron engagement. Manages non-paid marketing partnerships, trades, and collaborative promotions.
Oversees internal and campus communications to ensure alignment and clarity of messaging.

Minimum Required Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in arts management, communications, public relations, public administration, marketing or related field including fine arts education or business, plus two years of media/public relations or developing digital content and campaigns experience; equivalent education/experience considered
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and effective public and community relations skills essential.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and planning required.
  • A portfolio that clearly demonstrates digital content development
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Master’s degree in arts management, communications, public relations, public administration, marketing, or related field including fine arts education, or business
  • Successful track record of being responsible for increasing organizational awareness and media coverage
  • Audience development experience or other background in performing arts
  • proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience in institutional budget development and management
  • Experience developing and executing integrated communications or marketing campaigns within the performing arts, nonprofit, higher education, or live entertainment industries.
  • A strong portfolio of content development work, including writing samples and campaign examples across multiple channels that reflect the ability to create compelling, audience-focused messaging that drives engagement and sales.
  • Experience leveraging data and analytics to inform content strategy, evaluate campaign effectiveness, and continuously improve results.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring staff, interns, or student employees, with a commitment to fostering collaboration and professional growth.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems, ticketing platforms, or audience databases (such as Tessitura or similar systems) and their integration with marketing and communications efforts.
Posted Salary: 
$60,000/yr. minimum
