Silkroad presents Home Within

Silkroad presents Home Within

Founded by cellist Yo-Yo Ma, Silkroad Ensemble has been called “vibrant and virtuosic” by the Wall Street Journal and “one of the 21st century’s great ensembles” by the Vancouver Sun. The group creates music that engages difference, sparking radical cultural collaboration and passion-driven learning to build a more hopeful world.

"Home Within" is an emotional accounting of home in a time of conflict. An audio-visual performance conceived by Syrian composer and clarinetist Kinan Azmeh and Syrian Armenian visual artist Kevork Mourad, the result is an impressionistic reflection on the unity of loss, longing, and the impact of tragedy on our sense of ‘home’.

In the days leading up to their performance on April 15, Silkroad Ensemble will be in residency at the Lied. Led by Azmeh, they will be adapting "Home Within" for quartet. Lied audiences will be the first to hear the result!

This presentation is made possible in part with generous support from Season Lieders Art & Chris Zygielbaum.

This performance can be attended in person or virtually. See ticket options below.
