An Evening with Sandra Cisneros

An Evening with Sandra Cisneros

You’re invited to spend an evening with Sandra Cisneros, one of the most influential voices in contemporary American literature. Beloved for The House on Mango Street and her groundbreaking contributions to Chicanx and feminist writing, Cisneros has reshaped how stories of home, identity, language, and belonging are told.

In this intimate author lecture and conversation, Cisneros will reflect on her life and work, the power of storytelling, and the urgency of writing with truth and tenderness in turbulent times. With her signature lyricism, wit, and generosity, she invites audiences into a space where literature becomes personal and where small moments carry world-sized meaning.

Whether you’re a longtime reader or discovering her work for the first time, this is a rare opportunity to hear directly from a literary icon whose words continue to inspire, challenge, and resonate across generations.

Part of the year-long Read, Connect, Celebrate: The House on Mango Projectthis FREE event will take place at the Ted Sorensen Auditorium at Lincoln High School on April 9, 2026 at 6:30 PM and hosted by local facilitator Leticia Martinez Meitzen.
